Herringbone and chevron floors are laid block by block from a centre line we set out in the room, so the pattern runs true to the walls and the main sightline. It's slower, more exacting work — and it shows.

We plan the pattern on paper first — where the centre line falls, how it meets doorways, and how the border runs — and walk you through it before a single block is glued.

Borders and feature strips

A single or double border frames the pattern and makes junctions with other rooms look intentional.

Is herringbone much dearer?

Materials cost a little more and laying takes longer, so expect a higher price per square metre than straight boards. We quote pattern work separately so you can compare.
